Lenovo to launch the first 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 855 Soc, confirms company


The is slowly penetrating towards 4G connectivity and claims of launching the world’s first 5G smartphone are already picking up pace and Lenovo has become the first smartphone maker to officially announce that they will be launching the world’s first 5G smartphone. Lenovo Vice President Chang Cheng has confirmed through a post that the company will be launching a 5G smartphone soon.

Chang Cheng further added that the Lenovo 5G smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset which is slated to be introduced by the end of this year and expected to power all the flagships of next year. This update comes after renowned tipster Roland Quandt tweeted that ‘Qualcomm's SDM855 has been in mass production since at least early June’.

The Lenovo VP claimed on Weibo that his company will be the first to launch a 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 855 SoC, however, he didn’t specify when will the Lenovo 5G smartphone be launched. On the other hand, Chang Cheng is known for making big claims but Lenovo has failed to deliver on them, which was also the case with Lenovo Z5. Chang Cheng teased Lenovo Z5 while claiming that the smartphone will have a display notch and come with a huge battery backup, however, in reality, the Lenovo Z5 was launched with a 3300mAh battery but the device does feature a display notch.

Coming to the companies which have claimed to launch a 5G smartphone soon includes Oppo, Huawei, and OnePlus. While Huawei has claimed that the company will launch a 5G smartphone in Q3 2019, Oppo earlier announced its partnership with chipmaker Qualcomm for launching 5G phones next year. On the other hand, OnePlus also confirmed that the 2019 flagship from the company will come with 5G compatibility, while Samsung's Galaxy S10 flagship is also rumoured to come with 5G connectivity.
